Oris cooperates with the wild adventure swimmer ErnstBromeis to jointly promote water conservation and launch the AquisRelief calendar watch.
Over the years, Oris has continued to support marine protection. In the process, we found that there is much more to be done. We hope to work with customers, partners, and media friends to contribute to the protection of water resources around the world.
Therefore, we are proud to recommend to you the OrisAquisRelief calendar watch and announce a new cooperation with the wild adventure swimmer ErnstBromeis.
Ernst and photographer MauriceHaas brought the OrisAquisRelief calendar watch to Lake Baikal in preparation for his ‘Blue Miracle’ swimming event in 2019. He has swam across many lakes, including Lake Baikal, the world’s largest freshwater lake, to deepen people’s understanding of water.
The watch is inspired by the color and feel of the water. The gray dial is reminiscent of the stormy sea, the silver-white scale, like crystal water droplets, shines the light of life.
This watch has all the design beauty and excellent performance of the OrisAquis diving watch. The 43.5mm case is made of stainless steel and is equipped with a unidirectional rotating diving bezel, which is water-resistant to 300 meters. Under the sturdy and durable sapphire crystal, the clear and easy-to-read hands and scale are coated with Super-LumiNova®. The watch can be equipped with a stainless steel strap or tape and belt.
The Swiss-made automatic mechanical movement provides the watch with a central hour, minute, second display and calendar function. The second hand is purposely designed in red to remind us of the importance of protecting water.
Oris and Ernst, in their own way, have affected thousands of people: we must pay more attention to water conservation, before it is too late.
Water Shape Story
Water sustains life. Oris works with non-profit organizations to make a difference. We are working harder to educate the world about the threat to water resources.
How bad are the rivers and oceans in the world? How does this affect people?
According to the World Health Organization, 3.4 million people die each year from preventable water-related diseases, most of them children.
The Pacific Institute is a water resources think tank. Its report shows that in developing countries, about 90% of sewage and 70% of industrial wastewater are discharged into waterways without any treatment.
And, more and more news reports have found that the stomach is full of plastic dead sea creatures. Although many efforts have been made to improve the world’s water environment, it is worrying that the problem still seems to be intensifying. We must act now.
Oris continues to work with non-profit organizations to create projects that can truly make a difference. Over the past few years, we have replanted corals artificially with the Coral Remediation Foundation; protected endangered sharks with the marine charity PaligiasKkunja; and environmentalists applied for the world’s most remote atoll, Clipperton World Natural Heritage status, it is a key node for the migration of many endangered marine life.
Oris also introduced a recycled plastic strap, the material of which is r-Radyarn®, which is processed from waste plastic. Compared to virgin plastic, this recycled plastic has lower energy consumption and lower emissions. We also want to do more and better.
Oris is an independent brand, which allows us to respond quickly to consumer needs. At the same time, independence also means that we can stick to our own path and make quantifiable changes. The launch of the AquisRelief calendar watch and the Baikal event with wild adventure swimmer Ernst Bromeis are a new step for Oris to protect the water environment.
