Chanel J12 Graffiti, Deconstructing The Digital Time Scale

Chanel’s new J12 Graffiti watch series released at the 2017 Basel Watch Fair is full of attention because it is full of Arabic numerals displayed in graffiti. In fact, Chanel often uses street art elements to interpret his classic works in a modern, bold and avant-garde way. Whether in high fashion or fragrance ads, you can see painted street art patterns.

Ms. Chanel is convinced that several numbers are her lucky symbol, first ’19’, and her birthday is August 19, 1883. In 1921, she chose ‘5’ to name her first classic fragrance. Today, the classic diamond check bag 2.55 is also echoing the bag design born in February 1955. Inspired by the faceplate of the J12 Graffiti watch, modern street style and totem lines are interpreted using modern methods. The lively and interesting digital design reinterprets the classic J12 white watch.
